Community Service Projects

Sports Open Day

In June 2003, members of the club assisted South Northants Council at a disablilty sports open day hosted at Brackley Leisure Centre.

The open day was an excellent chance for people with disabilities to go along and have a look around to see what was on offer. Guest of honour at the event was Anthony Peddle, paralympic gold medal winner giving a demonstration of power lifting.

The Lucy Appeal

Lucy is a typical lively local seventeen year old, or she was until she contracted meningitis last year. As a result of her illness, Lucy lost both legs below the knee as well as all her fingers on both hands.

On Thursday 25th May 2000 we were delighted to be able to present Lucy with a cheque for £11,000. This together with monies raised by her family and friends, will allow Lucy to buy the special legs that she needs.

Without the help from over 50 Round Tables within RTBI, we would not have been able to reach our target so quickly. Once again, a BIG thank you to all the Tables, Circles and individuals for your donations to our Lucy Appeal.
